BIMA, the leading provider of mobile based insurance and health products scooped the award ‘Best Mobile Innovation for Health & Biotech’ at the prestigious GSMA Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO Awards). The awards recognize and celebrate the very best innovations that help evolve and develop the mobile industry.
Mobile Health services were launched by the insurance start up BIMA in 2016 in Ghana to address the scarcity of traditional healthcare resources in most emerging countries. The mobile service offers subscribers and their families unlimited access to medical consultations and health programs over their phones and paid for via their phone credit. Since its inception mHealth from BIMA has been launched in Bangladesh, Ghana, Pakistan, Paraguay and Cambodia and has reached over 2.2 million customers.

The service is complemented by a suite of online-to-offline services delivered in partnership with local networks of hospitals, laboratories and pharmacies in each of BIMA’s markets.
BIMA has developed a platform that easily integrates with any mobile operator allowing payment through airtime credit or mobile money wallets which allows the organisation to maximise on the opportunities provided by the mobile penetration rates in emerging markets.
The GLOMOs are judged by independent experts, analysts, journalists, academics, and, in some cases, mobile operator representatives.
